About Stagewhispers

Welcome to Stagewhispers

Stagewhispers is theatrical resource website, dedicated to public awareness of live theatre, area production companies and the actors within a 2 and 1/2 hour radius of Binghamton NY. Its access and use is totally free to all -- professional and non-professional theatres -- and the interested public.

This site is free to the public! And I rely on YOU to help keep the information updated and flowing. Your emails and information about yourself as an actor, or your company's show dates, are what I use to pass on to the community via this website and the ever growing email listing.

This website is a community project. It is completely owned and created by my efforts, and is under no obligation to any theater group, foundations or advertisers. I pay my own fees to create, host and maintain this website, accepting contributions from those who wish to keep this resource growing.  We do welcome your financial help.  See the ‘Donate to Stagewhispers’ section in the navigation bar at the left. You can charge a donation to your charge card right from this web site.

Stagewhispers was conceived in January of 2007, and was, at first, a part of my own personal website. It immediately began to expand and before I knew it, I found it necessary to make a website just for its purposes. I'm very glad I did. Now with over 100 theatre companies listed and more than 1000 email listings, Stagewhispers is growing by leaps and bounds!

Google "stagewhispers" and you'll find it's number one in the listings! The same occurs at the other top search engines. www.yahoo.com, www.aol.com, www.msn.com and at www.lycos.com as well, which includes the mention and links to several actors' bios at Stagewhispers. To be listed on the first page, much less the first listing, is quite an achievement, and it means that many people are checking out my site and checking out who's on it!

What Will You Find in Stagewhispers?

Stagewhispers is about scripted, theatrical productions, or readings.  Therefore you won't see listings for comedy acts, improvisational acts, bands, musicians, magicians, etc.

My apologies, but Stagewhispers will not list High School Theater Companies, or their shows, as there are far too many schools in the radius that Stagewhispers covers. It would probably take another entire web site to do that.

Who Should Read Stagewhispers?

If you have an interest in local theater (which is defined as a circle with a 2.5 hour radius of Binghamton NY), and you are interested in attending or any capacity on or behind the stage, then this is for you. Keep up with new shows coming your way, or new auditions for shows looking for actors.

Theater-goers -- If you like to attend and support your local performing arts organization, watch here for news about new shows.

Actors -- If you are an actor looking for a show, watch for audition notices where directors have a show and are looking for actors.  Maybe you can connect with one of them.

Directors, Producers -- Find out what else is going on in the local theater community. Before you pick your new play, it’s not a bad idea to find out if another company, in your area, has decided to present the same production around the same dates!

Anyone Else -- Anybody else who is interested in supporting local theater efforts should check in with Stagewhispers occasionally to see what’s happening.

Who Should Send Info to Stagewhispers?

Theater Companies -- tell us about your upcoming shows, upcoming auditions, significant changes to your organization or failities, or other news or notes about your company. See the ‘Contact Us > Add a Theater’ or ‘Contact Us > What’s Up?’ sections.

Actors -- If you are a local actor (professional or not), and are not already listed in our Actors Gallery, now’s the time to send in your information and get added.  If you are already listed and have updates (more shows you’ve been part of, a new picture), send the new information to us. We’ll add it to your resume. See ‘Contact Us > Create a Resume’ to add or update your resume.

Directors, Producers -- As you are looking for folks to be shows, send us the details about upcoming auditions.  We’ll try to connect your need of actors with actors who are looking to be part of a show.  As you have shows coming up in the near future, send us the information about them and we’ll add them to our ‘Curtains Up’ section.  See the ‘Contact Us > Curtains Up’, ‘Contact Us > Audition Notice’ or ‘Contact Us > What’s Up?’ sections.

If you are otherwise involved in a theater, in any capacity, and find that your theater is not represented here, tell your director or theater management that they are missing out on a great opportunity to spread the word about your organization.

About the Actors Gallery

It's no secret that actors are notorious for waiting until the last minute to put their resumes in order, and at times it can be a daunting process and a pain in the cervix as well, which only serves to offer another great reason to post  or update your info at Stagewhispers on a regular basis.

Once it's posted, it's there always ...to link to, copy/paste and forward in an email, or print it out, send to anyone you wish or bring with you to your next audition! You only need to update your latest acting appearance simply by sending the information to me. Got more than one photo? No problem, you can have up to 10 photos in your seciton, AND, the best part about it ...did I mention ...IT'S ALL FREE? See the ‘Contact Us > Create Resume’ section to add or update your resume.

To Webmasters

Webmasters, if you haven't done so already, wherever and whenever you can, I would very much appreciate your company's website placing a reciprocal link to the Stagewhispers website. If we do not already have a link to your side, send us the specifics and we’ll add it.  See the ‘Contact Us > Email Us’ section.

And so, my monologue is thus complete...!
